Silent Mind's Biography
Silent Mind has been the alias of Songwriter Jamie Bright since 2005. Having played over 150 shows across Europe and 35 states in the US to support Silent Mind's debut release "Acoustic Thoughts", Jamie made a commitment to fans of his music that he would find a way to play live in their city even if it was just himself and an acoustic guitar. Large venues, coffee shops, living rooms, whatever, Silent Mind was ready to bring all the energy possible to a space that was willing to host a show. A review from Ken Deville at Rockstar Music Online who caught one of the shows stated, "Our generation needs singer/songwriters, and I believe that Jamie Bright will be the leader."
Having been a member of the band Tony C and The Truth on Lava Records in 2003, Jamie had his fill of Major Label myths and National Tour Bus drama. However, being on a Major Record label did open Jamie's eyes to the possibilities of a career with his own music. Being on the road playing music is what Jamie was born to do. With nothing to lose, Jamie bought a one-way ticket to England to meet a fellow musician he met on myspace in order to have a haven to create music. Silent Mind completed "Acoustic Thoughts" on a laptop in a small bedroom in the countryside of England. Once the record was done, Silent Mind hit the road to do what he loves most, performing music live.
After touring in a small Saturn Coupe and selling CD's at shows, rest stops and anywhere else he could convince people to buy his music, Silent Mind settled in the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont. In no rush, Jamie took his time finding the musicians that would make up the new Silent Mind. After about a year everything started to come to life. Signing with a small local record label, Chakra-5-Records, Silent Mind begins their journey as a trio of devoted musicians who play music to make a difference in peoples lives even if it is only for 3 minutes and 6 seconds.
Now as a full band Silent Mind is ready to be heard. All the musical ideas that were begging to be released into the true vision of Silent Mind have come to life with this line up. Jamie Bright on Guitar/Vocals/Samples is a graduate of Berklee College of Music's Production and Engineering major. Having toured with a Lava Records recording artists he has seen the potential of the music business and aims to be a major competitor in the industry. Bob Hoar on Bass/Vocals/Samples has played and toured in numerous bands in Seattle and San Francisco. He was the Bassist for the late 90's Island Records Artist Mumblin' Jim and founding member of San Francisco Disco Outfit "Superbooty". Jay Baskowski on Drums is the baby of the band. At 21 years old his fierce energy behind the kit and instinctive groove make him the ultimate backbone of the group. The energy of this tight trio match that of their influences including the Foo Fighters, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, and Led Zeppelin to create a passionate and truly entertaining show. Armed with a passion and commitment to the energy and truth within their music, these are the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feel of SILENT MIND.
